Welcome to my website. I write novels, short stories and poems. My blog posts are about writing or other things of interest to me and, hopefully, to you… fun stuff, current events, etc. I love to write about new things I have learned, no matter how trivial they may seem, especially if they are about the beach or the mountains, or odd words. Read about my books here on this site, then go to Amazon or other sites you use to purchase e-books and good old-fashioned hold-in-your-hand books.
Brenda Drexler, AUTHOR of books, short stories, and poems. Reading and writing poems and stories have always excited me, starting in elementary school, then voraciously in high school when I had as much angst as the next teenager. Of course, I love to write. I almost have to write, with all these ideas swarming around in my brain. In a past life, I’ve been a high school, middle school, GED and college English teacher. After some major life changes and a root canal, I returned to school to become a psychotherapist while also teaching at a local community college.
I’m an avid reader of a variety of genres, and belong to one book club, and currently, at least two writing groups. Before my emergence as an author of novels and short stories, the work I was most proud of included an award winning essay in high school on an early American statesman, multiple articles published in a local newspaper and an anonymous letter to a senior officer on an Army post in Germany that left a lot of people hot under the collar (Let’s keep that little secret to ourselves).
You’ll see more about my published writings by clicking on the Books tab on the menu bar, but I’ll introduce them to you now. First, you get to see my newest release, Sage McGuire PI, a protagonist that keeps you reading. My new release, SAGE MCGUIRE PI, is available as a paperback and an e-book most places you want to order from.
SAGE MCGUIRE PI. https://books2read.com/u/4DDlD7
She’s smart, gorgeous, experienced, snarky, and always gets the job done; but Sage McGuire has problems of her own. Only after Sage takes a job investigating the suicide of a man who left his wife and teenage son behind to pick up the shattered pieces of their lives did Sage consider it would be up to her to solve her own father’s suspicious death that had tormented her for years. She uncovers odd, but telling, clues and discovers the truth about the dead man’s spoiled, unhappy son, and his greedy, narcissistic wife, weaving the protagonist’s way through a tangled web of lies and deceit and the threat of connections between both the suicide, and the death of her own father. Even more of a challenge, how can Sage work with the son of the dead guy, when he is the one who put that bloody hole in her side?My newest release, SAGE MCGUIRE PI, is now available in paperback and e-book almost everywhere (see link above for ebook)
*Redemption on a Kentucky Poor Farm. This story was inspired by an article I read in a local newspaper about poor farms. After some research I was intrigued, and this story was born. Amazon.com
*Four Shorts for Your Bucket List. Some stories are loosely based on reality. Amazon.com
*My first novella is Gracie and Marge: Kicking the Bucket Together, with some absolutely zany characters that you will love at first site. Again, this story started as a short story based on an article in the news. The article was about a guitar-playing homeless man, that I changed to a violin-playing older woman. The short story grew as readers encouraged me to write more. So, my first book was born. Amazon.com
*My second book of short stories, Life in its own frame of Reference, runs the gamut from light to dark themed. No two stories are the same. You get to guess what parts have a smidgeon of truth and what doesn’t. Amazon.com
*And, my first self-help book is now available with the second one coming soon. I wanted to make something easy to read over and over to help people with depression and anxiety. check it out on Amazon.
My new release, SAGE MCGUIRE PI, is available as a paperback and an e-book most places you want to order from. While you’re on Amazon purchasing my previous works, be sure to check out my author page. I’m thankful for the feedback of my husband, sisters, friends and editor after they proofread my works in progress. I’m indebted to the good people of both writing groups for their keen eyes in perusing the written word and their blunt honesty. (I plan to use that last sentence when I win an Oscar or Emmy, or something). Twitter (X) right here
